I got into the "green" to start with because of keeping my garbage output under the residence limit to avoid the $$$ it would cost under commercial.
Then when the WV DEP had an exclusive (limit 15 businesses) EMS Class, I applied because if it was a limited group I wanted to be in it (thinking ahead for publicity - got some but not as much as I had hoped).
When we had our site visit for the EMS Class, we were told we had a big problem. Part of the premise is to strive for continual improvement - they could not see where we had any room for inprovement other than some lighting so we got the low watt 5-year bulbs everywhere possible. We also got a composter and cut our garbage output in half.
As far as having a newspaper program, one newspaper is on the porch each morning. Some guests are early birds and sit on porch to read it. Otherwise it is on the dining room table to share. _________________ Kit Cassingham
